We recognise that General Practitioners (GPs) play a significant role in determining the patient treatment pathway. We want to support GP’s so that they can make informed decisions on patient referrals. In addition, we want to promote best practice for referrals. Quality information will help us to chart an efficient and effective treatment pathway, improving diagnosis, treatment, clinical outcomes and the patient experience.
If you are referring a patient to the hospital, we recommend you visit the Consultants List, which details Hospital Consultants, speciality training and sub-speciality interests. This will enable you to identify the Consultant who is most suited to treat your patient’s condition/symptoms. Specified consultant referrals contribute to improved Hospital efficiencies and reduced patient waiting times.
