Accommodation

We want your stay at the Hospital to be a comfortable and pleasant one. During your time with us, we will do all we can to care for you and support your recovery. The Hospital has 159 beds, with public and semi-private wards and a small number of private rooms. We care for patients of all ages, and from all walks of life. If you have private health insurance and would like to avail of a private room, we will endeavour to accommodate your request, however, private rooms are contingent on availability.

As an inpatient of the Hospital, you will be assigned to the ward that is best suited to your care. Your age, gender, general health and treatment will be taken into consideration when determining the best ward for your healthcare needs. During your stay, you may be moved to another ward for specialised care and we would appreciate your full co-operation in this event.

When attending the Hospital for an inpatient stay, we ask that you bring essential items only. Bedside lockers are provided for storage of clothes and personal items, however, space is limited. Please do not bring jewellery or valuables to the Hospital. We do not offer safe storage facilities and cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to personal belongings.

Young patients are cared for on St. Pauls Ward. This is a calm and relaxing place, where patients and their family can enjoy the peace of a private room to rest and recover. Evening meals for parents and guardians of paediatric patients are available from the Restaurant & Catering Service for an additional charge. Orders and advance payment can be made at the Restuarant from:

Monday – Friday: before 3pm

Weekends: before 11am on Saturday.

Meals can be eaten in the Vending Room, adjacent to the restaurant after 4 pm Monday – Friday, or on the ward.

Wards and private rooms are equipped with:

  • Television
  • Free WiFi
  • Charging points for phones and laptops
  • Bedside lockers, for storage of personal items

For convenience, patient bathrooms are located close to the ward entrance. In addition, the Hospital offers the following on-site amenities:

  • Oratory
  • Pharmacy
  • Restaurant
  • Vending machines

Oratory

The Hospital Oratory is located near the Main Reception. Holy Communion is offered weekly. A volunteer Catholic chaplain is on-site twice per week; however, if you are a member of another faith arrangements can be made for Chaplains of other denominations to visit you at the Hospital.

Pharmacy

Pharmacy staff dispense medicines prescribed at the Hospital to nursing staff. A member of the Pharmacy team will examine your current medications carefully to ensure that new drugs prescribed will not interact with your current medication or negatively impact an underlying medical condition.

In addition, a member of the Pharmacy Team may meet you to explain the medication, dosage, possible side effects and benefits of new drugs prescribed. And if you are taking several medicines, they will help you to create a medication management plan to guide you.

Restaurant

Good food and nutrition are important for wellbeing and recovery. Each year we welcome more than 3,000 inpatients to the Hospital and we ensure they receive nutritious and tasty food options served at regular intervals throughout the day.

Vending Machines

Hot and cold beverages are available to purchase in the Vending Room, located beside the main restaurant, which is open 24 hours.

Snack foods and soft drinks can be purchased from Vending machines located in the Vending Room beside the main restaurant and the porch area, at the Hospital Reception.
