CAPPAGH FOUNDATION DAY 2024
We are delighted to announce the Cappagh Foundation Day 2024, will take place on Friday 10th May 2024. This year’s theme is ‘Metastatic Bone Disease (MBD), A Growing Challenge for Orthopaedics’, and we look forward to welcoming guest speakers from the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) NHS Trust, Stanmore, London, Mr Rob Pollock, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Dr Rachel Baumber, Consultant Anaesthetist and esteemed colleagues from University College Hospital Waterford, and St Vincent’s University Hospital Dublin.
Key Speaker at this years event Mr Rob Pollock:
Rob Pollock trained in London, Sydney and Denver before being appointed at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore in 2004. He specialises in sarcoma, complex hip and knee arthroplasty the management of metastatic bone disease. He was the Clinical Director of the Joint Reconstruction and Sarcoma Units from 2017-2021, and in June 2023, he was elected President of the British Orthopaedic Oncology Society. He also sits on the Board of the European Musculo-Skeletal Oncology Society and is a member of the Medical Advisory Committee of the National Joint Registry. He is a passionate teacher, educator and researcher and, to date, has published 113 peer-reviewed papers.
In 2008 he was awarded the American, British and Canadian (ABC) Fellowship by the British Orthopaedic Association. He spent six weeks visiting some of the highest-ranked specialist orthopaedic clinics in North America, gaining invaluable experience in his areas of interest.
In his spare time, he is mostly found outdoors in the Chilterns with his young family, enjoying cycling, running and walking his dog. He is an amateur triathlete and completed a full Ironman in 2016.
