A Tea Party for 10!
A Tea Party for 10!
In September, the Centre for Rehabilitation at NOHC celebrated its 10th Anniversary. Over the years, the Centre has helped over 3,000 patients to regain function and independence following an acute medical episode. Initially providing specialist rehabilitation medicine for patients of all ages, the Centre now specialises in caring for older adult patients transferred from nearby Connolly Hospital and the orthopaedic wards at NOHC. The rehabilitation programme takes some months to complete, and during this time, we have the privilege of getting to know our patients well and hearing the most interesting life stories.
We were delighted to invite former patients back to the hospital for a Tea Party to mark this tremendous milestone in our history. The event was officiated by Dr Marie O’Connor, Geriatrician, and Ms Angela Lee, CEO. It was heart-warming and inspiring to see how well our past patients have been doing since discharge. Our current programme participants, current and former staff, also joined us on the day for tea, cake and toe-tapping music from a talented trad band.
We thank artist Maureen Finn from Maureen Finn Ceramics, Drogheda, for creating a fantastic piece of art to celebrate the Anniversary – a beautiful picture of a tree with a leaf representing each patient cared for over the years.
